The accident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 21, around 3:25 p.m. Massachusetts State Troopers responded to reports of a single-vehicle rollover on Route 146 northbound near Exit 3 in Uxbridge, police said.

The reason for the crash is still under investigation, but at some point, the driver lost control of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving.

The pickup truck drove off onto the road’s western edge, struck a guardrail, then veered back across all lanes of travel to strike a jersey barrier and guardrail on the eastern edge of the road.

The impact sent the truck into the air and it rolled over and down an embankment, coming to rest in shallow standing water, police said.

The driver, Robert Bilodeau III, 31, of Bellingham, was likely not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 35-year-old Millville man who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to UMass-Lakeville Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
